Never leave an
electrical appliance on standby.
If you do you will
be using almost as much energy as if it was in full use. Also
remember that exercise
is good for
one, so ditch the remote and walk to the TV etc and adjust the
settings.
Never leave an electrical appliance on standby.
If you do you will
be using almost as much energy as if it was in fulld in the dark to change a broken light. Of
course it is always a wise move to turn of lights that are unnecessary.
Why not watch the TV with the light off- it can be more romantic too, so other advantages
may arise!
When
driving the car, remember that each time you press the accelerator you
are using fuel. Read the road, anticipate junctions and avoid
heavy acceleration and braking. It may take you a little
longer to get to your destination , but you will arrive less
stressed, having saved fuel and limited your output of
CO2 emissions. Try it, you can retrain yourself, and who knows, you may
even prefer it.
When shopping look for the BOGOF
(Buy one get one free offers). This way you can stock up on things you
frequently use. You will also find that the
offers are repeated fairly frequently, so you can always have in
stock a ready supply.
To utilise the last drops of
Shampoo, washing liquids and other detergents and similar; Dilute
with water when empty and this way you can often get
at least further two usages.
A bit of a
cheat, as it is a spin on the last tip, but why not do a similar
thing with toothpastes and moisturisers in tubes. When you have
squeezed as much as you can, then get a pair of scissors and snip
of the end of the tube. You will then find that you can get every last
bit out of the tube. Once
again, quick and easy results, with a least a couple of further
uses and much more usually.
And
Lastly My final tip:
Don't despise small beginnings.
Operate on a small basis on a number of issues and the savings will
escalate over time. After a short period of
time, these savings tips will become habits. So put them
into practice and who knows, you may soon be enjoying that special
holiday sooner than you might imagine.
